Want to be a Published Author?
Your job is to take the next step. My job is to read, critique and coach. Our goal is to make you a successfully published author ...but my real mission is to take you beyond the limitations you think you have in writing a book.
- You can get published - either with a commercial established publisher or self-published - it is easier than you think
- There are new ways for the busy person to get a book written that fit with your schedule and style
- The process of writing a book is a self-development journey like no other, where you learn to connect with an audience who wants you to take risks, be yourself and teach them what you know
- Demonstrating your skills and values in a book is a critical step for an entrepreneur or professional and can validate your expertise like nothing else
Work One-to-One with Jan King:
One Time Review of Your Partial or Full Manuscript or Book Proposal
Want to do the work yourself but want to make sure you are on the right track before spending a lot of time, energy and money? I can review your work and give you an honest, candid assessment of the readiness of your ideas, work, etc. for publication.
Review includes:
- A detailed reading of all relevant materials such as transcripts, outlines, overviews, manuscripts in part or in full, book proposals, marketing or business plans, etc. - anything and everything you want me to review.
- A review and professional critique with feedback in writing or verbally as needed of any and all materials you would like me to review. After I review your work in detail, we spend 60-90 minutes discussing your strategies. There is one additional telephone coaching session as part of the package for additional questions or review.
Fee for Review Services: $750 for the in-depth reading, review and two telephone coaching sessions
Ongoing Coaching on Publishing Strategy for Your Book
Want to do the work yourself but need some guidance, motivation and direction? I can collaborate with you to develop the optimal strategies to transform your intellectual property into a great non-fiction book for you and your clients, and then coach you and your team to realize that success.
A Book Development Project includes:
- A detailed reading of all relevant materials such as transcripts, outlines, overviews, manuscripts in part or in full, book proposals, marketing or business plans, etc.
- A review and professional critique with feedback in writing or verbally as needed. The first review would be of everything existing at the time of the start of our work. You send me your work and we spend 60-90 minutes discussing your strategies.
You will have the answers to these questions:
- Is your idea publishable?
- Is there a hook that will make publishers and readers want your book? Have you captured the core messages?
- Who is the most likely buyer book? Is that market large enough for credible book sales?
- Do you have a good organizational structure for the book?
- Do you have a substantial enough author marketing platform for your book?
- Is self-publishing right for you or would you be better off working with a traditional publisher?
- Do you have the time/skill to write the book yourself or should you consider working with a ghostwriter?
- Strategies and a plan, including preliminary time and cost estimates, to determine the right answers for you on the major questions involved in book publishing:
- Self vs. traditional publishing
- How much of the work you will do yourself or with staff and how much will you/should you outsource and who will you trust to do this work
- How to maximize the market potential in the book itself and with the things you do surrounding the book
- Ongoing support to refine the format and
material, overcome challenges and concerns and to keep the project on track and
on budget. A month of coaching generally includes 2-4 telephone coaching
sessions, one hour or less, as needed to forward the project, and unlimited
email correspondence. It also includes critiques of work and feedback as needed.
It generally takes about one week for me to read and review work submitted, but
I will try to accommodate a faster schedule when I can.
Fees for Consulting & Coaching Services:
- $500 a month for unlimited telephone and email coaching and consulting
- $2,500 minimum - you commit to 5 months of coaching
Initial project does not include:
